Pitcairn's
history and heritage is a fascinating journey through time from its
stone age settlements, from its use as a stop over on the Polynesians
eastward migration to Easter Island, to its discovery by Robert
Pitcairn on HMS Swallow in July 1767.
The story of the mutineers of HMAV Bounty which led to the
establishment of the Pitcairn community today still excites people of
all ages and countries throughout the world.
Evidence of ancient settlements are still to be found on the Island and
many of the current population can trace their roots back to the
arrival of the Bounty in January in 1790.
